Welcome to A Craft Life

I just love the feel of wool and acrylics, feeling the softness and thickness, the many different colors, some so vivid and others more neutral colors. I find it very hard to not buy a few balls as hundreds of ideas for different projects run through my mind. You can imagine what my craft cupboard looks like!

There are so many different plys of wool too. Baby wool is soft and fine and is usually available in 3 ply or 4 ply. ย 8 ply is a very popular, also known as double knitting yarn. Then there are chunky wools designed for many different projects. 12 ply knits up so quickly you can easily make a project in a day or two.

There are many easy knitting ideas for beginners and I will be adding patterns every week for you to try out.

Have a look under the Knitting Information ย category for the conversion list for knitting needles as the US and UK/AUSTRALIA are different. Also there is a yarn conversion chart too which will help when you need to know what other names certain plys go by.

To help in the fight against Breast Cancer Knitting for a Cure provides 18 designs to knit and share.

One time I was meant to make an Afghan blanket, but because of the color of yarns (light yellow, pink and blue), it turned to be a baby blanket. I haven’t done any knitting ever since, but I enjoyed it. I knitted with other ladies, and that gathering was also most memorable.

    1. It is a very relaxing hobby Kyoto, perhaps one day you may make something else ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks for commenting Courtney ๐Ÿ˜Š Knitting isn’t for everyone, I find it relaxing but I didn’t know much about till about 15 years ago and now I’m hooked lol.

Oh. My. Goodness. Barbara, this is the website I was looking for! I have been trying for so long to do some knitting. But so far, trust me, I have been real and proper rubbish at it. I have tried to follow patterns, but to no avail. I shall keep my eyes peeled on your posts and pages, as I am hoping you will write more for beginners like me ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Guilia. Yes I do intend to add more and I’m hoping in the next couple of days i will have a few more posts. Thank you for your comments.

      Best wishes

      Barbara
